“We booked this hotel last minute, and got a very comfortable room with two comfortable beds and a nice roomy bathroom. Bathroom. It was very clean, and the front desk was very accommodating. We had planned to check out at about 6:00 in the morning and she said that somebody would be able to grab a few ready to go items for us to have for breakfast on the road. Even though their morning breakfast service it wasn't till later. They quickly brought us extra pillows and blankets, and I would……

“Very unique. It's a step back in time. Don't expect modern resort but you will get friendly authentic service provided by local people who bend over backwards to fulfill your needs and interests. Dufur is a very small old rural historical town in, what some would call, the middle of nowhere. If you want seclusion and enjoy country walks or bike rides and meeting really interesting people the Balch Hotel is for you as it was for us. The people really are fantastic. Hood are truly spectacular, and the setting is peaceful and picture-perfect. Inside, the home was spotless and beautifully maintained.
