“I'm sure the people who have taken over this Hotel are trying their best to bring it back to the way it must have been when it was in its former glory days. The staff are very friendly and helpful under the cicumstances, the rooms large & comfortable with plenty hot water available. The rates are very good considering the proximity to the Lake District with good transport connections on the doorstep. Needless to say but I'll be back !”

“The overall status of the hotel is nice, we arrived quite later at 1:00am, but the housekeeping starts knocking doors from 9:30 all the way to 10:40 (about 4 times) to ask people to check out... they really did what their boss told...”

“We had had two very nice nights’ stay at the Fleece as part of a tour of Hadrian’s wall. The pub/hotel has been refurbished to a high standard with quality materials, joinery and fittings. We stayed in a superior room that was very well maintained and much larger than we expected. We ate breakfast both mornings. There was a buffet (cereals, juice, toast, pastries, yoghurt, etc.) and a good range of dishes cooked to order. Dinner was also excellent with a good choice, high quality food and……
