“This is a true slice of paradise! The location is perfect for exploring Volcanoes National Park. We were so close that we were able to make it for Kīlauea’s eruption, episode 26, within minutes of being alerted. It was a once in a lifetime moment that we will always be grateful for. “This entire experience was nothing short of amazing. At first I was apprehensive to live completely off the grid but after staying here I would definitely do it again. When we first arrived the host met us, gave us an entire tour of his property, including his beautiful animals as well as explaining what it’s like to live off grid. Made us feel right at home as if we had been friends a long time. The home was cozy, it does get a little cold so be prepared. The grill and fire pit was a nice touch……

“The yurts are great! The decor is adorable! The host really has all your needs covered and has every little last minute thing you forgot you'd need. We had 5 adults and there was plenty of room! Great view, very private. THIS PLACE WAS PERFECT Thank you John!!!!”

“The resort community was great. It is sad to see abandoned golf resort buildings around the area. But the resort itself felt very safe. Despite no air conditioning, the combination of ocean breeze and ceiling fans were still great.”

“The Volcano Home has a rugged sense of utility in its architecture, without losing a hint of homeliness or convenience. The area itself is quite rural, with gravel road crisscrossing dense rainforest. The hosts stock the kitchen, bath, and rooms with plenty of conveniences that might have been forgotten.”

“Great location. We got there at dusk - tropical pathway lights didn't work - most were smashed. Hot tub was not "locked up" as supposed to be - and cloudy. Did not want to chance a UTI so - no tubbing which was the whole reason we picked this little gem. Sink clogged up, wallpaper paper falling off, possible black mold on skylight above bed. No batteries in remote. We left a day early. I hope they fix it up.”

“This is a cute little house perfect for a couple. It was very clean and had everything we needed. There is a washer/dryer (we didn't use since we weren't there very long), there is a fully equipped kitchen. There is a fire pit on the deck that would have been nice to use, but the weather wasn't ideal (cold/rainy most of the time).”
