“Our Friday night stay was great. Oakham is a lovely village to visit and the Admiral Hornblower was welcoming. As expected in an older building there was stair access with low ceilings and creaky floorboards, but this all added to the charm. If you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest earplugs, given you're above a pub and also street noise. Breakfast was relaxed and a great choice and the service was excellent. “Was a big scare when we reached the apartment and found out this was no one there for check in & no instruction sent before our arrival. In this remote location, the mobile connection is bad and I luckily able connected to WiFi in an indian Resturant. Found an old email thread, replied to it and luckily i received a Uk phone number to call for self check in instruction. Felt quite worried at the beginning with my wife and boys and about where we sleep . Not a good experience ”

“Lovevly night away! Hosts made it so easy and hassle free. Room was very clean, had a peaceful nights sleep! Had dinner down the road in a pub called the wheatsheaf! Which was very nice! Rutland water is only a 15min drive! Thanks again to the host! ”

“The room I had was roomy and clean, bathroom/shower again clean and spacious. Equipment and white goods suited my needs. Entrance to the room a little dark as outside lights didn't react early enough. Overall I would book again if in that area.”

“The hotel was a good base for the surrounding area. It was very clean and the staff were lovely and helpful. I've given it 4 stars on facilities because our room was quite small and didn't have a lot of room to manoevre around. Also we didn't realise when we booked that the pub didn't do food on the Sunday or Monday evenings and the bar closed early too. Overall a pleasant stay.”
