“Very friendly welcome, we booked a suite, because no dogs are allowed there, which is probably a good idea when you have allergies. The suite was very spacious and romantic. The food was delicious, although I suspect that the breakfast portion size could be a bit larger for some people. The hotel has much charm and is situated in very quiet surroundings. The guest book proposed many things to do, but visitors should come by car, to get around easily. Parking spaces were more than enough outside.……

“We had a very good welcome when we arrived late due to a wedding we were attending. Quick and efficient check-in. Rooms were generally good, although the shower had signs of orange bacteria and some black mould on the ceiling. The bottom of the shower door and sealant around it was tatty and looked dirty, so much so that I didn’t want to use it. Breakfast was good, bit limited choice due to additional £5 charge for what you would expect to be on an ordinary hotel menu. Continental breakfast was……

“Hotel and grounds lovely, very peaceful. I booked a table for the 1762 menu and when we sat down to dinner we were told it was not available. I made a huge mistake booking the wrong dates to visit the follies i had even enquired at the hotel but they failed to mention they were not open on the dates i booked. Staff were great though especially Dominica xx ”

“The room was clean and tidy & had everything we needed. It would have been helpful we’d been advised that there was an engagement party & live band playing that night as we were staying as we were running the Delamere Forest Marathon the next morning and hoping for an early night as we had an early start. As the rooms were directly above the music there was no chance of this! The music did stop just after 11pm so not too bad! ”
