“This was the perfect home base for us and our adult children when we were not with extended family on Christmas Eve and Christmas. The rooms are smallish but comfortable and tastefully decorated. Lauren' simple and elegant Christmas touches made us feel welcome. The kitchen had everything we needed. A note for elderly guests-- there are a few features which those with less mobility may not be able to take full advantage of. The dining room and chairs are taller than traditional height. “This was a perfect place to have our family gather! Meal preparation was easy in the well organized and stocked kitchen. The extra tables and chairs in the garage made a great dining hall. The weather was extremely hot, so the pool offered wonderful relief and was very fun. We would highly recommend this lovely home!”

“Private and very clean location. King bed was SOOO comfortable to relax and sleep in. Roomy bathroom. Just like staying in a fancy hotel. If was staying longer would have preferred more than a mini fridge. Since no kitchen we made due with doing dishes in shower & sink with a small wash tub. Possibly a small utility sink in laundry storage room would be beneficial. Brought an electric griddle to make our food a few times. Otherwise a perfect location with nice views on both of the spacious……

“This was hands down our family's favorite stay of our trip (5 or 6 different places). Plenty of sleeping space for the 6 (2 adults, 2 teens, 2 kids). Kitchen was nice, though we didn't use it for much. Air conditioning worked great and main bed was nice. Couch beds were nice enough for the kids to not complain. Location was great for visiting nauvoo and being closer to groceries and such in Keokuk. Really nice stay overall!”

“We had a wonderful anniversary trip to Nauvoo. The historic and quaint Mix House added some period charm to our stay. While the house retains much of its 19th century charm, it has the modern conveniences needed for a relaxing stay. It may have been the off season, but food and meal choices were limited in Nauvoo itself. We were grateful for the items we ordered from The Apron Bake Shoppe.”

“Once a year my BF and I get our families together somewhere between our cities and chill for a long weekend. We are usually looking for something of a Big Chill house (movie reference). In that, we scored with Penny's home in Quincy. Her home is truly beautiful and was designed for entertaining. The entire property can be seen from two sitting areas plus an screen room facing the woods and Quincy Bay. The kitchen was massive and had everything we needed. “The house was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My only complaint was traffic noise which starts early in the morning, but it quieted down at bedtime. Great visit…we would stay again! ”
