While it is a little noisy being at the center, the windows are well insulated so it didn't bother us at night. “The Ara Maris which is referred to as the new hotel was one of my best stays at any hotel in all my travels, which is considerable. The service from all the staff whether it be registration, concierge, dining, pool, cleaning or spa wax consistently top notch. It is a physically pleasing site and is close to all the shops and restaurants in the main area of Sorrento. We were there for 8 days and could have stayed longer. “Good central location close to Sorrento train station and main shopping street. Buffet breakfast with beautiful dining area. The hotel is old and dated fittings could be visibly seen in the room. We disliked the air-con & ventilation most, as according to reception, it would function only when we set it at least 2 degree higher than current in-room temperature. We wanted anything below 24 degree and end up not having ventilation for the night.”

Getting from the hotel to the city is a little scary at the beginning portion, but becomes natural after you realize the entire Amalfi coast is this way. “We came in April over Easter weekend and what a treasure! Our room was modern and clean with a fantastic closet and bathroom. The view from the terrace was right at cliffside overlooking the Grand Mariana was gorgeous and there was the perfect complementary breakfast with eggs in the morning! You are right by the shops, a 5 minute walk to the train, and down the cliffside to the beach. Absolutely perfect- we wished the jacuzzi was open but April is considered off season. Still this was a gem!”
