“My mom and I had a lovely stay here in early July (in addition to the cozy bedroom, the big couch is good for sleeping on). Super pleasant walk into town. Great kitchen, stocked with coffee and tea - no microwave, unless we missed it somewhere, but stove/oven/air fryer available. You can definitely hear some regular life sounds (kids, pets) from the main house, so if you're looking for absolute silence you may want to look elsewhere, but that was perfect for us. We loved watching the stunning sunrise views over the mountains from the deck, stargazing from the swings, and exploring Great Sand Dunes NP, which was conveniently close by (less than 30 min drive). “We could not get a hold of host for keyless access and to talk about concerns we had. I sent multiple emails and called him several times and left voicemails. He called us 30 minutes before our checkin saying he had never received anything from me. We ended up staying at a hotel and didn’t receive our full refund.”

“The most relaxing, happy trip we have had in a long time! We stayed over July 4th to get our dogs away from fireworks in the city. Planned to do a lot of hiking. But Charley’s property is so wonderful we spent almost all of our time on site! Sitting in the beautiful yard, watching newly fledged mountain bluebirds. Looking at the incredible stars. Relaxing on the comfortable sofas. This property has everything we could have even imagined. It is not someone’s cabin they rent out once in a while.……

“Blue Elk is an excellent stay. Vrbo and especially Tracy, the host, were helpful in making reservations and preparation. The site has all the appliances and supplies of home in good working order. The location is breathtaking. We loved the wildlife (although watch out on the road!) and (mostly) quiet, cool weather in late July, but warm blankets too. A great time had by all.”
