“The kitchen had this terrible stench - turned out the kitchen sink tubes were leaking odours into the kitchen. Although it was “my kitchen” people helped themselves to stuff. Bedroom was very basic, dated furniture, etc. it was cheap but yeah - I guess one gets what one pays for. And one more thing - when I got there at the main address (there are two guesthouses) nobody opened the gate for some time. I had to get the help of another tourist and when I finally made it to reception the excuses……

“We really enjoyed our five nights here, large bedroom with a day bed plus very good bathroom, breakfasts are a feast, lots of choice on buffet breakfast plus a very good hot breakfast to follow.very convenient for many places of interest, a five minute drive into Stellenbosch which is a must visit in this area. “Cannot stress enough how UNBELIEVABLY friendly AND efficient owner Eddie is...he replied instantly to my WhatsApp after 5pm, was involved, helpful and polite and answered every question without bitterness, resentment or impatience. “After a 1 week stay in Cape Town we were looking for a place to stay for two nights close to the airport. We required a stay with airport transportation, a pool or other leisure activities and dining as we would not have a car. The Zevenwacht more than delivered. Located in Stellenbosch region it would also be great starting point for day trips in the area. Our unit was on the hill overlooking the estate with a spectacular view, particularly in the evening when we would sit on our patio……

“I chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and the website said it had a shuttle to the airport. However, they do not have a shuttle. The front desk gave me the name of a company that would charge $150 USD, for a 5 minute ride to the airport. I chose Uber instead. The rooms were small, but clean and adequate. There was no elevator, even though there were 3 floors!”

“This hotel is a fantastic base for a visit to the wine region. The hotel is a short drive from Franschhoek with the hotel providing an excellent shuttle bus service. The staff could not be any more friendly or obliging if they tried and we really felt at home here. The only gripe is that the pool beds are not that comfortable but otherwise this a hotel I would highly recommend and will definitely stay there again.”
