“The view from the cottage is outstanding. A long wooden table in the conservatory to sit about 8 people. There are comfy chairs too to relax in. The lounge is kind of rustic and a wee bit dark during the day. Ample table lamps to give a nice aura when it’s dark. I think there is way too much furniture in the room to be honest. Kitchen is small but has everything you need. 2nd bedroom is ok. The main bedroom is ok lovely duvet and bedding. Plenty storage. A bit narrow to get around the bottom of……

“The Gate House is exactly as described. The property is small but very well appointed (in fact, it felt the perfect size). The host was quick to respond to queries and both thoughtful and detailed in replies. The views of the surrounding landscape are beautiful. The hot tub is nice. The main drive for Hetton Hall is nearby but that wasn’t an issue. We enjoyed a few nights of relaxing time in this excellent property. “Fantastic property with everything you'd need, or thought you didn't need.... great hosts who were eager to make sure we'd settled in and had everything we needed or any help with suggestions for sight seeing (although great information book supplied). We were new to the area but found the location perfect as a base for exploring near and far. over a few days..plenty to do on your doorstep with shops and eateries with-in Melrose if you don't fancy cooking. “We wanted to stay in Melrose as it was perfectly placed to visit family living in the area . We were delighted to have chosen the cotttage as it was in a perfect location only a 2 min walk down to the Market Place and the shops Melrose Abbey ,pubs, coffee shops and restaurants. We had on street parking outside the door another plus! The cottage sleeps 4 but we were just a couple so had lots of room . The beds ( upstairs) were very comfortable and the upstairs shower room had plenty of water and……

“Great location and good for our larger group. Plenty of bathrooms and furnished well. Kitchen has everything you need. However the house and patio lack privacy with no screening between the opposite cottages which are pretty close and you have to be careful and close blinds. We also couldn’t use the rear garden furniture as it’s falling apart and needs updating so did feel like we were on show on the central patio. ”
