“This bed and breakfast excelled beyond all expectations! The property is exceptionally beautiful with many historic features scarcely seen except in museums of great old houses. Our host couldn't have been more wonderful and he helped us out after a long ride on the Erie Canal Trail. The amenities were excellent. I would go to Fort Plain just to stay there again. “A no-frills hotel which is absolutely wonderful. Our room was large with a comfortable bed and plenty of hot water in the shower. Everything was clean which is very important. Upgrades will be done per the front desk. Breakfast is no longer being served but there are plenty of places in neighboring towns for food. There is plenty of parking, vending machines for snacks and amazing sunset views.”

“The hospitality of the staff especially Ginny the owner of this fine establishment was very helpful and were great to chat with regarding the region of the Adirondacks. Let me not forget to mention the rooms are cozy, impeccable and lovely decorated by Ginny who is true artist. I do plan on visiting this area of the Adirondacks again and the Balsams will be base camp when exploring this beautiful area. ”

“Staying at this bed and breakfast was like stepping into another time. The mansion is beautifully preserved, and every room has its own unique personality, like an art gallery at every turn. Even the music playing throughout the mansion during breakfast made you feel transported. Jim and Susie were so warm and welcoming. They waited up for us when we arrived late, gave us a thoughtful tour, and somehow still had the energy to make us feel completely at home. Over breakfast the next morning……

“We had a great time at Lake Front. The area and property were beautiful. The staff at hotel and restaurant were great!!! The vouchers for meals at the onsite restaurant was a great touch. Also got a voucher for a boat ride that was delightful. Oh, didn’t mention how clean the room was and how comfortable our king sized bed was? It was!!”
