“The room was nice, but it could do with a bit of renovation. The bar and restaurant were very nice, and the staff were excellent.”

“The hotel is on the main street accessed via a side alley with steps and parking is available across the road. A warm welcome on arrival. We had room 20 which was spacious and had a view onto the bustling Pantiles street area of TW. If you are like us a couple staying overnight for a nice dinner and a few drinks, this is actually a perfect place to stay. On the Sunday morning because we were up early, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel which is à la carte and I must say the coffee was……

“This was a fun place to stay while visiting the battle field. The village was very interesting with many small shops. The room appeared to be recently renovated and staying above a pub was a fun experience. The pub itself was also excellent. Our only complaint was lack of air conditioning...which resulted in us opening a window...and listening to traffic (the road out front is very busy) All-in-all, I would strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area”

“We had a wonderful stay at Ockenden Manor, the staff are lovely, service in the restaurant is excellent and very friendly. Shout out to the chef, each dish was beautifully presented and so delicious. We enjoyed every course and then took a walk around the gorgeous gardens. Our room (Luke) was spacious, beautifully decorated with views over the gardens and the bed super comfy. Relaxing in the spa and time around the outdoor pool made for a perfect mini break. We hope to return soon! ”

“Historic inn, great food- especially the breakfast (homemade sausages, homemade bacon etc) which is the best fried breakfast i have ever eaten and i’m almost 60, lovely room, great shower and coffee facilities (with homemade cookies)”

“High quality fittings and fixtures in bed and spacious bathroom. Lovely shower with clearly marked toiletries. Nice little extras (e.g. a fan and clothes brush). Neat tea/coffee making area. Double aspect in both bed and bathroom (that’s a first!). The staff and receptionist are cheerful, helpful and friendly and the location of the hotel on the beach with its gorgeous terrace is perfect. Breakfast: Eggs Benedict cooked perfectly, lovely pastries and fresh bed - plus plus. Next job is……

“Battle is a very small town; having the helpful hotel staff in the neighborhood is certainly a plus. This building has existed as of the 16th century, and it's been properly maintained and apparently renovated in the toilet/bathroom.”
