“The room was good with a large bathroom and perfectly acceptable. But it wasn't great. No chairs to sit in, only window seats which were uncomfortable. We were in room 1, right by the front door so rather noisy until the restaurant closed and our window (with a great view) was by the front door, so it felt a bit like being in a goldfish bowl.
Would I stay again? Maybe, it was OK, just not great.”
“Back again at the end of our holiday on Mull. Its so convenient for the ferries. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Good options for dining in the evening and amazing choices at Breakfast 5 stars from us.”
“War ganz nett dort. Ordentliches Zimmer, sauber, mit Kühlschrank und Fenster im Bad. Englisches Frühstück. Sitzmöglichkeiten im Garten. Nettes Restaurant ”
“Clean, stylishly decorated rooms (decor wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste), with good shower. The ‘hotel’ is unmanned, so external entry and to your room is by key code - we struggled with it initially and saw several other guests having similar issues. Unmanned also means that breakfast is provided via a good selection of provisions (croissants, bread rolls, granola, berries, juice, smoked salmon, cream-cheese, hard cheese, cured meats, milk, tea and coffee) left in your room / fridge. Again,……
“A cheap place to stay if you just need a place to sleep. Run down and mostly broken. Add to it the most inhospitable and rude receptionist which complained about everything but found it OK to "walk" his dog for a 5am morning pee at the trash cans in the small common area backyard.”
“The nicest stay my wife and I encountered during our ten day tour of Scotland. Lochaline is a place of stunning beauty just a short ferry ride from the Isle of Mull. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating preparing delicious breakfasts and dinners every day. Our room had an incredible view of the inland sea, mountains and 700 year old castle ruins. When upon our departure we discovered a flat tire on our vehicle, our hosts helped us by contacting an area garage and gave us the tools……
“It's a lovely and characteristic guesthouse. The owner pays a lot of attention to the details. We stayed in a standard room, but the rest of the rooms are full of charming. Highly recommended.”
“This is a beautiful property and well worth a visit. Despite my train arriving after check-in, it was very easy to access my room. The room was a good size and very clean. The hostess is friendly and extremely accommodating. If you use public transportation, be aware that the property is near Pulpit Hill, so there is some steep walking. However, buses do serve this area, and you can get a taxi. I came to Scotland to hike, so the uphill walk was a welcome part of the trip. The house was less……
“The Promenade was an amazing stay! The hotel was absolutely beautiful and thoughtfully decorated. The staff were friendly and very helpful in making sure we enjoyed our stay and the rooms were immaculate. We would love to come back and stay again sometime soon hopefully! ”
“Great views, bar and restaurant staff were great! Small but comfortable room. No AC so it got warm the days we were there. Bathroom and shower was decent. ”
“Old hotel and not really clean. Hair on linen.
The worst thing is no wifi connection at all because they are fixing it for days. The hotel should inform guests who want to book the hotel in advance rather than saying sorry after we arrived. Really bad experience as we are cheated.”
“This is a waterfront property. We had a room with a private bathroom and the view of the loch. Gorgeous picture to wake up to. Bar downstairs did not bother us at all even we slept with open windows ( no air conditioning). Room was clean and bigger than in some European hotels we stay. Staff is friendly. The communal kitchen downstairs has refrigerators for guests and fully equipped. Also it is fridge with a food you can buy. The only negative experience is someone decided to smoke at 5 am right……
“This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The condition of the room was extremely poor and absolutely not worth the price. What was most unacceptable was that the room I was given looked nothing like the photos shown on the booking website. Instead of a standard room on the main floors, I was placed in one of two attic rooms, which were dark, cramped, and completely unsuitable for use as hotel accommodation.
The wardrobe was old, dirty, and poorly maintained, with doors that……
“Really enjoyed our stay, bed was comfy and it was exactly what we needed for a night in Oban before getting the ferry. Loved that we were able to come and go as we pleased. ”
