“From the booking description and the photos, it looked like a hot tub was included. It was not. Infact, we would have had no option for a hot tub as 2 were damaged and the others booked. Had we realised it wasn’t included, we wouldn’t have booked. The host explained on arrival that the deal on the gas BBQ disintegrated ‘last week’ the auto ignition on the job was burnt ‘last week’ and the glass plate to cover the job and allow surface space was smashed ‘last week’ so amenities were lacking. “A really nice hotel. We enjoyed our short stay. The room was spacious, clean and had good facilities. My only slight issue was that breakfast was a buffet. I prefer breakfast to be cooked to order. ”

“Great welcome from lovely staff... beautiful building, only criticism was the bathroom. It was large and spotlessly clean but it had a handbasin the size of a pudding bowl? and the shower was rubbish. It was a challenge to use, and the pressure was extremely poor. ”

“Exceptional beautiful room, so spacious decorated to perfection. Wonderful large bathroom with extra large bath tube. Breakfast was the most delish we have had in the UK. Location in walking distance of all shops and the Kelso Abbey just across the road. Exceptional stay. ”

“This is a lovely hotel with a friendly welcome. If you've been walking then you'll really appreciate the deep hot bath. There a nice bar with food service downstairs and breakfast was great. ”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Central Guest House. Instructions for entry were provided beforehand via text message. The front door sticks but luckily another guest arrived who knew how to get in and showed us the trick. It's in a great spot in the town, prefect for all the restaurants, takeaways and pubs. The interior of the building is tidy if a little shabby. We weren't entirely certain which room was ours but we eventually realised we could just pick whichever room we wanted from……

“Good location right on the high street in Melrose, but the hotel is very dated and in need of redecoration. I seem to have been upgraded and had a much better room than I expected, very large with a bay window overlooking the street, so I was very pleased with my stay. Breakfast is good and freshly cooked to order. ”

“We were made to feel very welcome. The accommodation was very comfortable and brilliantly fitted out. Very comfortable beds and hot tub was fantastic, lookinv out at stunning views.”

“There was no one at the desk. Self check in via the hotel email. Room was on 2nd floor up two flights of winding stairs not easy to maneuver with luggage. Limited food at the hotel. Did have free parking. Very old building not handicap accessible. Room was a good size and comfortable. Bathroom was very small couldn’t open the door all the way. Not recommended for older people or anyone who can’t do stairs.”
