“This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct. The present owners have upgraded in various ways, including adding in-room air conditioning (we didn't need, but it was nice to have the option), retrofitted bathrooms, kitchen, wiring, and similar. “This unit is on the top floor, with a magnificent ocean and bay view, overlooking the beach park. The unit is nicely laid out with a compact kitchen (which is lacking a dishwasher), a living room/dining room combination, along with the two bedrooms. The primary bedroom has a wall of windows overlooking the ocean and bay. The other bedroom has a view of Mauna Loa. Both bedrooms have very high legged beds, 35 inches to the top of the mattress, made for easy viewing of the water and mountain, but……
