“Hotel is in a lovely area, especially if you like horse racing. Don’t arrive early though as it is £30 for early check in, even if the room is available, you are not permitted to use the pool until checked in so the only option is to come back later or go to the hotel bar and wait, or pay £30. The rooms are nice, a bit dated, but bathrooms appear to have been recently renovated. Rooms have aircon which is good, and the beds are comfy. We don’t visit the spa, just the health club, the pool is……

“Beautifully decorated and appointed. Large TV in room. Comfortable bed. Only negative is that the room was hot so had to open window and nearby road is noisy. Also walls thin so could hear people in next room using bathroom, coughing etc. Which disturbed my sleep. ”

“We are so pleased to have discovered this little gem. From arrival at this charming village pub, the staff (and locals) were friendly and helpful, happy to give local info (restaurants, buses etc). We were shown our room which was one of 4 terraced bungalows, purpose built at the bottom of the pub garden so away from the pub, secluded with shrubbery and hedge and quiet. Perfectly adequately sized for 2 people, furniture of good quality. A lovely comfy super king size bed with crisp cotton……

“The property was tastefully furnished which reflected its historical past. There was a spacious sitting room for use by guests and a kitchen equipped for the heating and simple cooking of meals. The tasty breakfasts were cooked to order with locally sourced ingredients. There was a small but pleasant garden with suitable seating areas. The staff were always welcoming, helpful and friendly. “We decided at the last minute to break our journey on a bank-holiday weekend, from West Midlands to the East End of London and booked 'The Old School House Rooms' on chance and we were so pleased that we found them. “The property is absolutely lovely and the staff are excellent. The breakfast is also really great. The location is perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and want to come back. The only minor negatives were, the TV is ridiculously small and most of the Freeview channels don’t work due to low or poor signal - surely a hotel in 2025 can resolve this issue? It would have been nice to get a complimentary bottle of water every day and not just on arrival. The WiFi kept dropping and we had to keep……
