“Excellent room spacious with 2 comfortable chairs . Top en-suite with an good walk -in shower as well as a roll top bath . Staff friendly and efficient ,quality of food ,both an evening meal and breakfast couldn't be faulted , Would stay again when in Northumber land”

“We stayed at the Border Hotel for a couple of nights while walking St Cuthbert’s Way. The bath was a very welcome addition to the bathroom & we certainly made use of it during our stay. The bed was a little too soft & a bit lopsided but after our hikes we slept like logs anyway. This is a no frills hotel but it had everything we needed. Hearty food & a lovely friendly team. ”

The view from our room (and even the toilet!) was one of the grand memories of our trip. Parking was in an enclosed area and spacious. Breakfast was delicious. You won't go wrong here!”

There is also a lovely garden you can use and enjoy. Staff were very relaxed, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was faultless, generous servings, everything on the menu you could want, hot and beautifully cooked. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a choice of toast. This was served with both hot and cold beverages. ……

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Central Guest House. Instructions for entry were provided beforehand via text message. The front door sticks but luckily another guest arrived who knew how to get in and showed us the trick. It's in a great spot in the town, prefect for all the restaurants, takeaways and pubs. The interior of the building is tidy if a little shabby. We weren't entirely certain which room was ours but we eventually realised we could just pick whichever room we wanted from……
