“We had a lovely one night stay. The hot tub was great and the beds were very comfy. Having a drying room was a good bonus and we appreciated being able to borrow things like plastic glasses to use in the hot tub and sliders. ”
“The property was fair and they did have a good breakfast. But that the town who is lacking in dining and other amenities it's a very small town. One would be better to stay in Princetown. ”
“Amazing stay. Great location. Comfy beds, very clean and organised, friendly staff for whom nothing seemed too much. Great history, lovely beer garden, well stocked bar, nice breakfast including a vegetarian breakfast. ”
“A beautiful hotel set in lovely gardens on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Very good standard of food. The classic room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Perfect for a relaxing break once you have negotiated the 1.5 mile single track road to the hotel!”
“I have really enjoyed several previous stays at the Moorland. It had become a sanctuary for me since my husband died. This time the double rooms overlooking the garden were full so I booked a supposedly better room. It was bigger which made me feel more alone and looking out over the car park, not facing the garden. I don’t think that was clear when I booked it. For two people the bigger room might have been better but not for me. It was less peaceful hearing cars coming in and out. I’ll……
“We stayed here one night, we will be back we loved it, lovely clean tidy room, homely, not kneen that dogs could stay in our room I'm very fussy! We had an evening meal the food was excellent a sunday roast very very homemade and very tasty, some nice pubs around the street to check out too.”
“Tavistock House Hotel was super clean and the rooms had everything you could need. Free parking was a bonus.
Brad and his team were so helpful and friendly and it was only a short walk to town.”
“Booked a valley castle room w king bed for one night in late Sep. Room was very clean with comfy n up to date decor. Room was big enough and soundproof quality was good. Big garden surrounded hotel n we took a pleasant walk the next day. Should have stayed for one or two nights so as to enjoy swimming pool and other facilities. The historical building was well maintained. Very pleasant stay ”
“Wonderful pub and accommodation. The people are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. This 16th century public house still supports many original features making its atmosphere charming. The room was fairly small, a double bed and the small wardrobe made it tight to get to the bathroom but it was very clean and comfortable. Street Parking is available in front of the pub for free but only from 6pm till 9am so you need to move the car at 9am. The food was good but pricier than either of the 2……
“What a great find. Lovely quaint pub. Staff are attentive and the food is amazing. Be sure to book dinner before arriving as the restaurant gets fully booked. Lovely comfy rooms and good facilities”
“What a find! A quaint old building oozing character with everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing break. We wanted for nothing and the hosts couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. Breakfast was top notch. Overall excellent value for money. Will definitely stay again if we visit the area.”

Full of character ”
“Interesting place. Really need a group of friends there to take full advantage of everything on offer from renting the whole house and private dining to having a wild party in one of the great past spaces they have created. Everything very high quality and well designed. ”
