“The room had a four poster bed and we had amazing views of the hills.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
We decided to have our evening meal in the hotel.
We had the garlic and chicken schnitzel with gnocchi, and the steak and venison pie.
Both dishes were absolutely delicious and we recommend them.
Portion sizes were just right for us. We shared the cheese board for two which was very good too.
Breakfast was to order and we both had the full English. There was a lot of other choices……
“We stayed at the Golden Lion with friends as we were walking the 3 peaks on the Friday, we both stayed in a classic room, the rooms were lovely, comfy bed, hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner, tea and coffee and bottled water, don't forget to ask for milk before bed.
We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was lovely and we had great service.
We had asked for breakfast the morning of our walk as we had to leave at half 6, unfortunately they forgot to leave out any bread or bowls for……
“Wonderful discovery with exceptional value in the heart of the dales with half a dozen easy walks to majestic coves, waterfalls, past sheep cows peacefully grazing on a green carpet of endless grass…”
“Lovely accommodating owners of the guest house. Nice room and bathroom. Area to sit downstairs and watch the TV, which was lovely. Surrounded by nice walks and a local pub. Breakfast was also nice. I cannot fault the place.”
“The stag were extremely welcoming, warm and friendly. The room was a very good size with a modern en-suite bathroom. The evening meal menu had a varied selection for all tastes and the quality of food was excellent, being very well cooked and presented. Breakfast was high quality local produce with a large serving. Overall we had a fantastic stay and great nights sleep with a large high quality mattress and comfortable pillows. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue and we would……
“Despite my late check-in, the folks at Middle Flass Lodge were ready to go. Very friendly and I was made to feel immediately welcome into their place. Classic and quaint.”
“Great location for exploring, food average and a bit pricey but the only place to eat in the village. Good sized room but not freshened daily. Heating on in hottest week.
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Nice self serve breakfast with sausage and bacon sandwiches, cereal, croissants, fruit juice etc.”
“If you would like to experience living in a 400 year old cottage, with many original features, surrounded by so much beauty and peacefulness, then this is the place for you! I cannot recommend it enough.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by hens and cats. We were then shown to our ‘living area’, bathroom and upstairs - a double bed and bunk beds. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful. There were so many extras included - books, binoculars, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/fresh……
“its a lovely hotel, fabulous view, comfortable accomodation. the lake walk is pleasant, and the walkway maintained to make it reasonably accessible but not fully pushchair / wheelchair capable. its great that its dog friendly and animals are allowed in and around the place
food is very nice, all made to a very high standard.
it is pricy but its very pleasant and you dont feel short changed. a good location for a special event. ”
“Clean, comfortable rooms but quite cosy. The pub is on the busy A65, so it can be quite noisy, even at the back.
Very little choice for vegetarians/vegans, especially if you don't like fake meat. Although the kitchen did agree to do the mushroom salad which is normally only on the lunchtime menu for dinner, which was nice.
Some fruit at breakfast would have been nice, but there was tasty bread.

“Lovely people and delicious food. Bar was very friendly. Spacious room (#5) and big and comfortable bed. No internet in bedroom (think it was faulty as it showed a signal) but OK in bar. Water pressure in room #5 very poor but clean a pleasant bathroom. No mobile service but that is obviously not The Maypole’s fault!”
