“This hotel is one of the Old English Inns. Very vintage style, clean, and comfort. If you want to try some typical English countryside, it is. The location may not suit for those don't drive.”

“We loved the idea of staying in a castle and that in itself was magical. We stayed in the Cromwell Suite which is big. The kids loved the extra room to roam. The high ceiling in the living/2nd bed area was nice and contributed to the majestic feel.There were however a few things that could have been better. When we got there they did not have the room ready because they thought there were only 2 of us. Our reservation was for 2 adults and 2 kids. When we walked in the room the housekeeper seemed……

“Pub is closed on Sunday evenings and Monday morning so only contact we had was to pick key up, so cannot really comment on service. Lodge was clean but looking a bit tired, but was fine for a one night stay. ”

“The Walnut is a lovely hotel and restaurant. My room, while clean and tidy, was really small and lacked, what I call, basic amenities. ie wardrobe, table etc. Would I recommend the Walnut? Yes, of course. But don't pick the single room. ”
