“We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return.”

“Had a lovely nights stay - very comfortable bed, lovely size room with everything we could want. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh fruits and lots of biscuit in the room which was extremely clean. Had a great welcoming from the owners on arrival with freshly baked flap jacks and lots of local knowledge shared. A book regarding the building was also an interesting read. We had breakfast (optional) which consisted of lots cold options, fresh fruits, juices cereals etc. Then a full range for any……

“Great old hotel with lots of Welsh old charm. Loved all of the wood beams, crooked stairs; walls, etc. Nice bar and restaurant on main floor. Helpful staff.”

“Really good size room, was perfect on the ground floor having patio doors open onto a small bistro set. Really comfortable stay. Attentive staff. Didn't eat here as i was working in the area ling hrs but Cant ask for me. ”
