“We didn't get the room we booked originally but our room was just what we needed. Thank you so much to everyone working there for their hard work making us feel so special. ”
“Really good home cooked food at a good price too but hotel side of the pub was a little expensive considering breakfast wasnt included but it was comfortable and clean and nice for me personally to have memory foam pillows instead of feather filled ones. ”
“We found the property clean but lacking, certainly not "Superb". The decor was sparse e.g. bare light bulbs.
Negatives
Bathroom: no mirror, no towel rails, only one hand towel in the property for three.
Kitchen: Two sets of knives & forks for three, no large glasses or wine glasses, no fire blanket/extinguisher, no downstairs smoke alarm I could spot.
Small bedroom: no hanging space, one plug socket (used by lamp), only one half of a pair of curtains.
Large bedroom: two hangers on a……
“Fantastic hotel, beautiful room with gorgeous touches such as Molten Brown toiletries. Lovely view from room, a lovely welcome from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. ”
“We had an amazing stay at the Manor House Hotel and Spa. We specifically wanted to stay in the historic house itself, and it did not disappoint. We stayed in Room 37, which, while traditional in style, was full of character—including a charming hidden bathroom that added to the unique experience.
Every member of staff we encountered was exceptionally polite and friendly, making us feel truly welcome. The spa was clean and well-maintained, with robes provided upon entry and secure lockers with……
“Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them.
On the hole, everything else was excellent.
There was no recycling facilities, which was quite a surprise, and also a slight disappointment. Everything else was above……
“An overnight stay needed before a uni offer day at Durham., I just wish we could have stayed longer.
Clean, comfortable, everything you could possibly need and the views !
Hopefully the uni offer will be accepted and I can stay again for a while longer !”
“Beautiful hotel located a short walk from Durham city centre. Clean and spacious room. Fantastic Indian restaurant attached to the hotel. Bed was so comfortable! Staff were very efficient, nothing was a problem, very friendly.”
“Very love area with walking paths, forest and birds, lots of birds.
The dining hall, reception and lounge area are fabulous.
The extra building housing non-suite rooms is very tired looking and cold, but the price reflects that, so no complaints.
Staff is very helpful and attentive.
I would definitely stay there again.”
“Great overnight stop with the most friendly and helpful of staff. Facilities excellent and being able to bring our dog was so good. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast options were just right for us. Will definitely stay again. The price was also the best value for money you could ask for. Could not recommend more.”
“Enjoyed most of the stay, luxurious hotel, food really good, spa was great although a little overcrowded. Bathroom wasn’t great as not clean and dust all over light shades and tiles hanging off the wall, would go again as we enjoy it here but rooms need to be better maintained.”
“Our stay at Burnhopeside Hall was one of our most memorable ever. Christine, our hostess, was delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and the surroundings could not have been more grand. This is a stately old home, full of beautiful furniture and dishes, near sheep pastures and the river. While there, we walked the yard and fields behind the house, went down to the river, accompanied by Barney and Spencer (the Burnhopeside dogs!). Breakfast was delicious and elegantly presented. This was a……
