“What a lovely place! The room was surprisingly large with a more than spacious bathroom and both really clean. The adjoining pub/ restaurant had a really good atmosphere with a good range of beers. Staff were really nice friendly willing to help out wherever they can. I strongly recommend booking a table as from what I could see the place is very popular and you do t want to miss out on trying the food! ”

“Exceeded expectations. Good, clean room, decent shower, nice people, good breakfast included, parking over the road free overnight, decent pint in the pub. Booked at really short notice as the usual budget hotels were either full or charging decidedly non budget prices. This turned out to be a much better alternative, will stay again.”

It was like home from home with some very nice touches which whilst simple but milk in the fridge was great especially for the cup of tea in the morning. “Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The building is very old with a lot of history. The rooms are clean and comfortable but as it’s a very old building the bedroom floors was very squeaky but this was the only negative I have about my stay here. ”

“We travelled to Sidmouth on the Sunday and arrived early. Reception advised that the room would be ready quite soon so we had a coffee and relaxed. The room was excellent with a walk in shower. The food was very good and we had dinner at the hotel on 2 nights. The only problem was it was quite a trek to our room but staff kindly transported our bags. Would recommend the Royal Glen for a seaside break as it close to amenities yet in a quiet location.”

“If you fancy a comfortable, clean and friendly Dorset inn with the best of breakfasts and delicious high quality meals, book in at The Marquis of Lorne. Surrounded by wonderful views, walking paths and close to the sea. Great for relaxing without children, also great for young families - an excellent garden play area.”

“Lovely country pub with loads of character. Located in a small village, in an isolated, quiet location. Warm welcome from the Land Lady and Scrappy Do. Friendly and helpful staff. Stayed two nights, room clean and comfortable with tea/coffe and TV. Free wifi, useful as there was no phone signal. Ate at the pub both nights, tasty, reasonably priced food. Recomend the Venison pie with a glass of red. Overall, an excellent stay, definately recommend. Will be staying again when back in the area.”
