“We had a wonderful stay at The Barrel inn. They were accommodating to our potential late arrival, the room was spotless, cosy and fresh. The amazing view at sunset was stunning and although we were too late to eat dinner there, the breakfast was delicious. We had a brilliant night sleep and great hot showers the following morning. This was a recommendation from a friend and so worth it, we’ll definitely be back. ”

“Cute little quiet area and relaxing rooms. Would come again for sure. we got an uber to Matlock bath took 5 minutes. Breakfast was amazing. Plenty of street parking outside the b&b thanks ”

“This was our first visit to the hotel since it was refurbished. I’d saved up to take my husband there for his birthday treat. When we got there, we were so impressed and our room was lovely, apart from it feeling very warm. We realised that we were directly above the kitchen. It was really noisy, as the extractor fan was so noisy to the point that it felt like we were about to take off on an aeroplane ( and that is no exaggeration ) We were kept awake by the staff laughing outside and throwing……

“Quaint pub serving great ales the food was absolutely delicious huge plates full of great food. We could not finish it all. Breakfast was amazing great local fresh produce set us up for the day Would recommend staying here ”

“Just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at The George which was the perfect location to explore the Peak District. Our room (Jane) was very comfortable, roomy and tastefully designed. It was at the front of the hotel but very well sound proofed as traffic noise was not an issue. Both the breakfast and evening meals were excellent but the true asset of the hotel are the staff. All very cheerful, polite and obviously take pride in their hotel. It was a fabulous few days and we're already……

“We had a fabulous 1 night stay, room was beautiful, patio area was great too. Only negative feedback was no milk and only a coffee machine which was awful for tea drinkers as the water tastes like coffee still. Saying this however we would come back and just bring a kettle! :0)”

“Perfect spot for the Peaks”

“Lovely one night stay, hotel is modern clean and has large rooms. The bar area is well laid out. We didn’t eat, but due to its location if you need a meal you will likely end up eating there. Only one bad point is that the pillows were feather and soon went flat, I do wish hotels would have a synthetic standby pillow that does not go flat. Other than that we really enjoyed it.”

“Good food and we really appreciated being able to reserve a table for dinner on arrival, and the evening staff very helpful indeed. Proper coffee with breakfast would have made it perfect! ”
