“We stayed at the Border Hotel for a couple of nights while walking St Cuthbert’s Way. The bath was a very welcome addition to the bathroom & we certainly made use of it during our stay. The bed was a little too soft & a bit lopsided but after our hikes we slept like logs anyway. This is a no frills hotel but it had everything we needed. Hearty food & a lovely friendly team. ”

“The bed was comfortable and clean. Nice decor. Chairs were not comfortable, too low. Nobody on the premises during the night. No emergency phone numbers supplied. “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Central Guest House. Instructions for entry were provided beforehand via text message. The front door sticks but luckily another guest arrived who knew how to get in and showed us the trick. It's in a great spot in the town, prefect for all the restaurants, takeaways and pubs. The interior of the building is tidy if a little shabby. We weren't entirely certain which room was ours but we eventually realised we could just pick whichever room we wanted from……
