“On entering the property we was greeted by the reception staff they were very friendly and helpful, they made our short stay feel at ease, had everything we needed and the owner was so polite even carried my bag upstairs and said anything we need just ask. Really can’t fault our room was lovely felt homely & cosy, the area was nice & quiet. Highly recommend this place. We had the family room as it was the last one left for us to book & was a great size room. 10/10 ”

“Our stay at Burnhopeside Hall was one of our most memorable ever. Christine, our hostess, was delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and the surroundings could not have been more grand. This is a stately old home, full of beautiful furniture and dishes, near sheep pastures and the river. While there, we walked the yard and fields behind the house, went down to the river, accompanied by Barney and Spencer (the Burnhopeside dogs!). Breakfast was delicious and elegantly presented. “Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. There was no recycling facilities, which was quite a surprise, and also a slight disappointment. Everything else was above……

“Great location less than10 minutes from Durham, so the perfect base without the price tag of Durham hotels. The staff where friendly and welcoming. The cooked breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. We did not try the dinner options, but it's a lovely, friendly pub. Our room was a great size and the bed was comfy with a lovely feather duvet. Would definetly stay again. Alina & Steve”
