“Quiet location but only 20 mins to Berwick upon Tweed with Holy Island, Bamburgh and Alnwick within easy reach. Bedroom was huge with a comfy bed. Staff were pleasant. Good choice for breakfast and their evening meals were excellent. Restaurant gets very busy so its advisable to book a table. ”

“Absolutely brilliant!! The room was lovely, everything in it you could want and more. Very generous with toiletries and refreshments. I had a perfect nights sleep! There is also a lovely garden you can use and enjoy. Staff were very relaxed, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was faultless, generous servings, everything on the menu you could want, hot and beautifully cooked. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a choice of toast. “This was a charming country house hotel, with friendly and professional staff. However the room was a huge disappointment. While sold as small bedroom nothing prepared us for how small. No room to sit or put anything. The small furniture had the appearance of having born bought in a jumble sale. A hotel which purports to be a quality country house hotel, with rates to match, should have no rooms like this so inconsistent with a 'Hotel of Distinction'. “We stayed at the Border Hotel for a couple of nights while walking St Cuthbert’s Way. The bath was a very welcome addition to the bathroom & we certainly made use of it during our stay. The bed was a little too soft & a bit lopsided but after our hikes we slept like logs anyway. This is a no frills hotel but it had everything we needed. Hearty food & a lovely friendly team. ”
