“You could write a book on all the wonderful things about El Picnic. Jochen&Gaby have crafted a serene and beautiful experience with some of the most amazing views of Lake Atitlan. Stellar views, thoughtfully designed rooms, relaxing lounge area, and delicious meals. It's a glamping experience that provides a great hub for checking out the other lake towns. “Visitors must be aware of the steep, difficult climb from the main road. Fit folx in their 20s and 30s won't be too fussed, but we're pretty fit for our 50s and it was a real effort. Handrails leading up to the yurts would make an excellent safety addition. We stayed in the top yurt (#4) and the views are tremendous and worth the big climb. We requested breakfast delivery in the am and it arrived on time! Delicious. Recommend this relatively new destination!”

“The hostel is located right at the base of Santa Cruz which made it super easy to grab the lanchas. My friend and I stayed in a private suite which was really nice and cozy. The grounds of the hostel itself are stunning and so relaxing! They host family-style dinner's every night which was so wholesome and was a great way to meet new people. The only cons I will say is that there's only wifi in the common spaces, and wifi doesn't reach the rooms. Other than that, I loved my stay! ”

“A lot of stairs to the rooms. No A/C, no screens on the doors so you have to close the doors and gets a little hot. Beautiful scenery of the lake from the rooms. Birds singing in the morning. Cafeteria is facing the lake. Beautiful ”
