However, One can get there easily through a steel bridge (which was not shown in the map) linking it to the Freeman’s Quoy Centre at the Peninsula, near the Premier Inn Durham. “Our stay at Burnhopeside Hall was one of our most memorable ever. Christine, our hostess, was delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and the surroundings could not have been more grand. This is a stately old home, full of beautiful furniture and dishes, near sheep pastures and the river. “Overall everything was good, our only issue was after being there for a few days we noticed the toaster was full of crumbs, obviously not been emptied for quite some time, and the oven tray had not been cleaned after it had been used. We hadn’t met the owner, so decided it was easier just to clean them both before using them. On the hole, everything else was excellent. “Great location less than10 minutes from Durham, so the perfect base without the price tag of Durham hotels. The staff where friendly and welcoming. The cooked breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. We did not try the dinner options, but it's a lovely, friendly pub. Our room was a great size and the bed was comfy with a lovely feather duvet. Would definetly stay again. Alina & Steve”
