“Truly stellar pool with three areas of different depths. This allowed children to play more freely while parents enjoyed the pool. Only complaint was limited food options with highly variable quality. Note this area of Placencia has lots of sea grass and sargassum that washes up on the beaches daily. So depending on your level of comfort swimming in and around it, you may not be able to use the ocean. When it decays it smells heavily of sulfur. ”

“This place is new for this season and wow did they hit it out the park. The staff and owners were just the best I’ve ever came across travelling. The food at breaky was top notch. The bar on the beach with Elvis as the bartender couldn’t have been any better. Honestly this place is the go to spot in Maya beach for comfort, relaxation, home feeling and just wish I could think of soo many other words to describe how this place made me feel. “I stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The resort is a distance from placencia town so if you wanna save money on transportation to town you have to book the free shuttle service that the hotel runs daily. The hours for this service are 10am & 2:30pm. Meals at Umaya in my opinion are overpriced and the chef needs to be replaced as the food is not very good and the portions are way too small for what you pay for. Overall, if you want peace & quiet and good relaxation then definitely……
