“The Plough is fine. It is looking a bit dated and in need of refurbishment. The rooms are spacious enough and the aircon works well. I stay in a lot of hotels and think the Plough is overpriced for what it offers. That’s probably why occupancy was quite low during my stay. At dinner the waitress spilled wine over one of the diners at my table. The waitress didn’t know what to do and laughed, probably in embarrassment. She evidently needs retraining on how to deliver service properly.”

“Absolutely fantastic stay at the Sleeping Giant. Check in was easy and straightforward, the room was of exceptionally high standard with attention to detail and everything thought of for the customer. Plenty of choice for evening meal which was again of high standard and the staff were knowledgeable, courteous and very friendly. “We had a lovely 3 night stay at the hotel and eat there twice with 6 other friends. The service was excellent, from the booking process to the bar service and the waiting on in the restaurant. We had a room at the rear of the hotel which was lovely and quiet. The room was large and clean and we had no complaints. “Staff were fantastic from checking in to servicing the room and our needs. Nothing was any trouble. Restaurant staff were amazing along with all the chefs. Food was amazing cannot fault any meal we had. Nice garden area to sit outside The only thing to mention is outside our hotel room door (room 5 first floor) there must be a generator as every morning from 7am onwards. “Had a lovely time staying here. Different from staying in a hotel. Hot drinks offered to us every time we came in. Beautiful big bedroom with a large bathroom with bath and separate shower. Clean, tidy, really comfortable bed. Had the best 2 nights sleep I’ve had for ages. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and the proprietors are lovely, warm, friendly people. “I’d give Melin Tregyb 5* for cleanliness and the room was large and airy with a very comfortable double bed. The owners were very quick to respond to emails but it would be comforting for me, as a solo traveller, to have an hour per day when the owners could be guaranteed to be in the building. ”
