“There is a very true saying about Scotland: it’s where a person goes to find peace, a sense of calm. This fact is doubly true about Orchard Lake Lodges. A welcome from Highland Coos from mere feet away. A gorgeous view of the glens near the property. A huge room, complete with all the necessities one could need. And all nearby Edinburgh. After a day (alright, perhaps an hour) of the crowds in the Royal Mile, having a place to stay in the country, with no stress, in a clean, well-lighted place—……

“Comfortable beds, spacious bath, appeared to be recently remodeled. Excellent breakfast and wonderful staff. Would have given a 5 star rating except there were minor annoyances. In the third floor room, it is very easy to hit you head on the sloped ceiling when getting out of bed. Power outlets were somewhat inconveniently located and lights with with USB power ports did not work (or the switch to turn them on was not easily found). A nice touch was the towel heater in the bathroom but there……

However local area still had lots of other eatery options, plus hotel was open for a breakfast. My room 5 was single in attic, but dormer window provided great view of bass rock, particularly at sunrise. ”
