“This property was chartered in 1899, and offers an authentic experience. But that is not necessarily a bad thing! Yes, the room was tiny... basically a twin bed and a sink and not much more. But the shared bathroom was fine. Very clean and up to others I have had the enjoyment of sharing. Breakfast (to order) was quite good, but the real draw here is the attached pub, which offered many a fine night of drinking a pint with locals and listening to their stories, and the excellent food. “This is overall a very nice hotel, and the room was very comfortable. My gripe is with the wi-fi. It’s hopeless. Disconnects and reconnects constantly, and is incredibly slow. I don’t actually understand how they can make it this bad. You’d have to start with a dial-up modem, but at least that might have a stable connection. ”

“The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Their attention to detail was highly appreciated. There was a nice fire in the fireplace. The room and bathroom were clean. And dinner, the Balmoral Chicken, was delicious. The best I’ve had in Scotland. Veggies cooked to perfection as well. Highly recommended.”

“Quite an unusual experience for me, eating dinner with the owners, chef and others guests, then relaxing in the sitting room as opposed to spending the evening sat on my bed like a usual B&B. It really made it an enjoyable stay. Everyone was lovely, food was delicious.”
