“Great location. The hotel is almost next door to the railway station. The room is clean, warm. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that there is no lift and the staircase is very narrow, which made carrying four suitcases upstairs a real challenge.”

“Lovely clean rooms but would be better if the TV was mounted on the wall so that the mirror could be better used, an extra chair or stool in the bedroom would also be helpful as I had to kneel on the floor. Normally this would not have bothered me but we were getting ready for a wedding.”

“Everything about this ‘stately home’ hotel states luxury and first class service, from the amazing, unique approach road through a rock bridge, to the extensive landscaped grounds which are a delight to explore and are up to national arboretum standards. “Check in was 15:00. I arrived at 16:20 and the room was still not ready. I complained to the woman at the bar which serves as the reception, she apologised, asked me if I wanted a drink while I waited and then tried to charge me for it! Not a good start to my stay. However, the room itself was lovely, clean, comfortable, modern and stylish. Extremely good value for the price and literally opposite the train station. Entry to the hotel is via an app you have to download, but it worked well……

“The staff are friendly and helpful. The building is rather old but full of character and with a lovely decor. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the station, very convenient. One thing to be aware of is that they don't start serving breakfast until 8.30am – something to keep in mind if you're planning an early start. ”
