“This hotel is well located close to bus & rail stations and only a couple of hundred yards from the promenade and the pretty Victoria Park. As with the majority of property in the area this is an older style premises with the typical drawbacks like steep staircases. On the positive side though the owners have introduced modern adaptations like proximity lighting on the stairs, wall mounted TVs in the rooms and electric charging point on the forecourt. As an added safety feature they have……
“Our room was very clean and tidy. Our hosts were really friendly and welcoming. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to perfection. Free.parking on-site. I just can't fault this place, and it is our new B&B of choice whenever we are in this area”
“It smelt amazing as we entered, everything was so clean and looked fresh, The manager was so friendly and offered lots of information about the hotel, and made you feel very welcome. The room was small but adequate and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and nothing was to much for them, we were booked into a different hotel for our 2nd night but would of loved to have stayed her for that night, they did offer to try sort out our other booking but I had already paid that company.……
“Beautiful B&B on a hill, but walkable to the bay and wharf and many dining options. The Bay Area is a little tacky with pin ball, casinos bars etc, but we had a very nice dinner at a spot called “Local” and it was walking distance to our lodging.”
“Lovely place and very friendly hosts Tom and Rosie. The location is great (walking distance to harbour, sea front and main street). Tom knows all the great places to see, drink and eat. I especially liked the harbour light, looking over the harbour with a nice glass of wine and some great food)”
“It’s a very welcoming hotel ideal location to surrounding areas - food and drinks are high standard.
Just note if you don’t want scrambled eggs in the morning then tell staff when they seat you ( option poached or fried ) then they can get them cooking while you collect your breakfast otherwise you’ll be waiting and your breakfast from buffet selection ( full English ) will be cold. ”
“We stayed for one night only and the reception was friendly. We bought a plug-in air freshener as the room smelt funky. The single bed was uncomfortable. Very noisy at night due to karaoke - but this was the summer in Paignton so I guess it’s normal. Hotel is near the main strip so very convenient. ”
“The best way to describe the Great Western is with the two words, quaint and quirky! The house is in the middle of a massive re-vamp, but that did not impinge on my stay, which was short, but long enough to form a very positive opinion.
My room was clearly re-purposed, with the en-suite bolted on, but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom fittings were quite new and of a good standard. The furnishings were old-fashioned, but I thought that gave the place its charm and……
“We loved our stay at The Charthouse, and are so glad we got the chance to visit and explore Torquay. The location is within walking distance of the beach, the town itself, and a picturesque path suitable for dog walks (Note: If you own a dog that doesn't like other dogs, this path may not be suitable, as there are a lot of other dogs, some off lead).
Lisa & Christophe were great hosts - Lisa being a friendly welcome face each and every morning, and Christophe cooking a hearty full English……
