“Lovely location overlooking the river. However if you book a river view room ask for the second floor because there is very little privacy on the first floor. Passengers in double decker buses waiting for the traffic lights to change can look straight into the first floor windows. There is a very quiet lift to the river view rooms. There is no parking at the hotel but the station car park is quite close by and only £6 per 24 hours when we stayed which is quite reasonable. ”

The bathroom was equally minute and sadly both were in need of refreshing the decor. The main negatives was the level of lighting that had little effect on the dark and dingy room. “We spent my birthday weekend at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire and loved every minute. Our room was spotless and cloud‑soft, with countryside views that drew us onto the estate’s miles of walking trails. Between strolls we dipped into the airy indoor pool and the outdoor Jacuzzi that faces rolling fields. Dinner was a highlight: a perfectly creamy risotto, capped by the staff gathering to sing “Happy Birthday.” Later that evening, the bar surprised me with a complimentary signature……
