The Thai restaurant which is located at the Pub/Hotel served an absolutely delicious 5* meal and is a must if you’re planning on staying here. The location is perfect for a hiking or cycling getaway break. ”

“The room was well presented, spacious and clean. There was a stain on the carpet but its nothing serious. The room was above the pub entrance and it slammed shut everytime it opened. ”

“We have stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The environment is quiet and safe. The staff are very nice and helpful. Bus stop to the city centre is very near, just a minute walking distance. Within half an hour including waiting time for bus, we can reach the city centre. I’ll choose the hotel again next time we go to Oxford.”

“This was a one night stop over only so hard to make fair judgements. But after an exhausting day the large comfortable bed and bedding were very welcome. Our room was noisy though from the adjoining room with the sound from the TV on from 7am when we were desperate for a lie in. We had no shower products in the bathroom and the flush on the toilet was dodgy. Breakfast was freshly cooked and adequate - just need to keep supplies topped up. There was no bread to toast at the buffet and we had……

“My experience at the George Hotel was interesting. My room, the James Bond Room, was large (verging on very large and nicely equipped. The housekeeping could have been better with cobwebs hanging on the window frames. The staff were very young and quite inexperienced and I’m not keen on establishments that don’t take cash. The bar prices were eye wateringly high for a ‘coaching inn’. I didn’t eat at the George as I had a family dinner arranged elsewhere. I was pleased as the menu, in the main,……

“Laura and Graham were absolutely wonderful and most helpful. The cooked breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had; everything was so fresh and of top quality. The property itself is absolutely stunning; we were easily able to walk in to the main city centre along the scenic river route. The welcome guide in the room gave some fantastic recommendations of what to do in the area and we only wish we’d stayed for more than one night, so we could check them all out. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay……

“Inexpensive no frills Oxford accommodation. Manager very responsive and accommodating. Good location with frequent buses to centre of Oxford (though easy for most to walk) and direct buses to train station. Clean rooms, kettle with tea and coffee. Good shower. No regrets. Would stay there again. ”
