“We vacationed with our children and their families. The house was very clean and met all of our needs. You need to bring most of your food, as the only grocery is a small IGA market and a Dollar General. The local gift shop was awesome offering a coffee bar and baked goods along with souvenirs. The area is pretty secluded but very close to Snowshoe Mountain resort where we got day passes for swimming. Also, the historical town of Cass featured train rides and little shops. We took long hikes up……

“Exactly what we wanted - remote and with a good view of the night sky for stargazing. Directions were accurate and it was easy to get the keys and get in. Might want to come back sometime!”

“The location alone is spectacular, particularly in mid-fall, though the boats are absolutely right that it's a cell phone wasteland. Fortunately the house WiFi can handle all but the most intense gaming loads (bandwidth is great but satellite-level pings) and has plenty of TVs board games, and other pastimes for those seeking a digital detox. The hosts were great with communication, offering to help when needed but also perfectly willing to keep a distance when we wanted to embrace the……

“We had a great time at Cheryl’s cabin! The river (across railroad tracks and through a small strip of trees- about 2 min walk) is beautiful! We tried to tube the river but it was a bit low in areas. We enjoyed it nonetheless - down river is remote and scenic. There are a few swim holes near the cabin (about 4 to 5 feet deep in spots) that are beautiful with clear water, sand/rock beaches, and large rocks cropping out of the river bed. We hiked around the property looking for small caves, and……

“You spend so much time picking a vacation spot for your family. It has to be affordable, clean, well taken care of and as described. We’ve been let down more times than I’d like to admit.We traveled in two cars and because my wife and I had to stop for a grocery pickup, my daughter, son and granddaughter went ahead to the rental and I was so relieved when I got a text “IT IS SO CUTE!”.A little later when we arrived with the groceries I was so happy when I seen them come out on the porch smiling……
