Our original assigned room was not made up when we got up to it and had to go back to reception. “We stayed here as we don't like the big chain hotels, we prefer an independently owned as they have so much more character. We chose the Bear's Paw in order to visit Trentham Gardens and the National Memorial Arboretum even though both were a drive away. Lovely old inn, had a great dinner and breakfast here. Most hotels let hotel guests use these facilities for free, some higher end ones may charge around £10 or so which is fine….. but £50 is an absolute rip off. You can get 3 months gym membership for that. It is fleecing customers and made me not want to spend any more money in there like at the bar or restaurant etc. ”
