“Booked last minute as we needed to break our journey. Arrived at 20.30 hrs. Staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. As food was only served till 9pm we put our bags in the room and came down for some food. The menu looked good and what we ordered didnt dissapoint. I especially loved the chips qhich were treble cooked. Our room was clean and fairly basic, in a nice sort of way. “The George Hotel is a wonderful place and one that I will remember well. It's near to Hadrian's Wall and many other old Roman sites to explore. The George Hotel has a charm that countryside adventurers will love. Hikers from the wall come and go and share their stories. That bridge and the river provide a scene that you will remember. “The check in was fast and friendly, the room is lovely, with a nice view. There was quite a lot of noise from the street below early in the morning and the church bells were regular throughout the night. The breakfast was a good amount but lukewarm spolt the vibe. The price we paid , i think was high for this standard.”

“Another lovely stay in this fabulous pub. Our double room was spotless. Well decorated and some nice little touches inc the well stocked tea/coffee tray. Great location and views to the rear from the beer garden are spectacular. Can’t wait to return soon. Staff so friendly and welcoming too. ”
