“The George Hotel is a wonderful place and one that I will remember well. It's near to Hadrian's Wall and many other old Roman sites to explore. The George Hotel has a charm that countryside adventurers will love. Hikers from the wall come and go and share their stories. That bridge and the river provide a scene that you will remember. Although there is no lift, we found out that the room was easily accessible from the upper parking spaces. Staff was super friendly. The food was excellent……

“Location is amazing with the AD 122 bus stopping here or around the corner, depending on direction. Also around the corner is The Sill, with a Northumberland Park team of advisors who are excellent and can guide you in seeing Hadrian’s wall. The room was fine, though there is no rubber mat on their slippery shower floor. Having a brewery and pub right there is great and it’s a nice fun place. Breakfast is fabulous, though it is interesting that they preassign the tables. For some reason,……

“We had a lovely stay at Shaftoes Guest House. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and well appointed with many nice touches. Breakfast was delicious. Lois was an excellent source for local information and suggestions. Exceptional!”

“Lovely comfortable, clean accommodation. In an fab location. All the extra touches are so appreciated and above and beyond e.g sewing kit in the large and comfortable lounge, home made biscuits in the room. Comfy beds and pillows and endless hot water. The hosts are super friendly and don’t mind you eating takeaway in the dining room in the evening. Breakfast was amazing!! We will definitely return. ”

“The oak tree inn was a good choice for a one night stay. The drinks were nice and the breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive. The room was nice and clean. Tv remote was very slow and shower wasn't great. Bed was only a double and prefer king size but was fine for stop over stay”
