“I stayed in room #4 - on the top floor. It's quite quirky, but very charming. Everything was clean and tidy and excellent facilities. Be warned that it is a very old building with a slanted roof and slanting floors, but this is part of the appeal. The breakfast supplied in the room was excellent; high quality and lots of choice. The only drawbacks were the outside automatic (number keypad) lock was a bit finickity and took several tries to actually get in. Also, room #4 has a weird gap at the……

“There is parking behind the waitrose and staff walked us there after their shift had ended to ensure we understood the parking App since tomorrow is the Farmers Market on High Street and we would have to move the vehicle early. Now it’s all sorted and paid in advance. Of course it’s an older hotel and everything is crooked and settled, but you should come here for that eclectic experience, as we did. I just miss the old mural that was painted in the pub before, replaced by a more modern map. ”

“Blood stained on the bed sheets! When I requested to change the bed sheets, the staff told me that its their policy to change every 3 days!!”

“The staff are fantastic and so friendly, making the stay really comfortable. However, the outdoor pool was quite dirty, including the loungers and the pool surfaces with bird poo and staining on the tiles. Also our room did not have air conditioning and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable to sleep the first night. After this we had fans on which the hotel supplied. We had a lovely stay despite the small issues. ”

“Really enjoyed our 2 nights here. Room was comfy and well equipped. Clean bathroom with bath and great shower overhead. Staff were friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere and beautiful outside areas. We watched owls and deer as we enjoyed an evening drink overlooking the view.”

Could do with some renovations which are likely to follow (broken uneven paving) otherwise nicely maintained. A relaxed stay. Perhaps breakfast quality could improve a shade and bath with shower over a bit basic for this pitch. But overall great. ”
