“Beautiful house on the prairie with everything (& more) you need for a comfortable stay! My mom grew up in Wessington and we have plenty of family in the area so this was the perfect location for us. We enjoyed peaceful sunrises & sunsets and time catching up with family on the back porch. Beds were comfortable and the space had plenty of room for 4 people - highly recommend! ”

“Clean, homey, walking distance to everything, our host communicated well and provided everything that we needed! We toured all of the Laura Ingall’s Wilder sites and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is centrally located - so cute and comfy with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom! Would definitely recommend to others ”

“This was a wonderful place to stay. It was very close to where I grew up and a perfect place for us ex-farm people to revisit our roots without any of the hard work!! Hosts were great, I was very late in checking in because a previous engagement was running longer than expected. They were very understanding and accommodating . “We stayed here overnight and found The Happy Place to be conveniently located with easy access to restaurants and grocery store. Beds and couches were super comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. Some older homes smell musty but this was not the case in The Happy Place. I was especially pleased with the neighborhood, which felt very safe. We would definitely stay again!”

“This was the best we have stayed at before, highly recommend this place”

“The overall property is very nice and peaceful. We loved having a fully fenced area for the dogs. Definitely a unique and historic property. The only issue I had was the height of the composting toilet. For me, it was a big step up and down, and I felt unsteady using it in the middle of the night. It would be nice to have a grab bar or something to help stabilize older people (like me). ”

“Location was so convenient to downtown Fargo and also walking distant to coffee shops and small restaurants. Extremely clean and so many amenities. Would highly recommend!”

“This was a great spot to come “home” to and relax after a day out adventuring in the black hills. It’s an easy drive to Mt Rushmore, Custer, and Crazy Horse, and plenty of easy access to restaurants and stores nearby. We enjoyed stretching our legs in the spacious back yard and playing games provided by our host. A wonderful stay! ”
