“It was perfect for us - easy to get to and a great stop off on our way south. I know they are planning to upgrade all the rooms but ours was clean and cosy and just what was needed for a quick overnight. Althought to be fair we could have stayed alot longer as the pub was just as we would want an old English pub to be - traditional and modern. Oak furniture, fireplace,wee nooks, centuries of history and many chiming clocks...as well as all the things a good modern pub should have. We missed pub……

“Really good, and great value. Lovely setting, and great views from the pub garden and terrace. Good base for walks into Derbyshire, and great beers. Rooms are all themed to different Titanic beers, which is really quirky and nicely done. I was in Steerage, and the only negative comment was the very noisy water pump that goes off intermittently once or twice and hour through the night. Once you get used to the sound it was okay, but it does shock you a bit at first. If they could sort that, it……

“Lovely one night stay, hotel is modern clean and has large rooms. The bar area is well laid out. We didn’t eat, but due to its location if you need a meal you will likely end up eating there. Only one bad point is that the pillows were feather and soon went flat, I do wish hotels would have a synthetic standby pillow that does not go flat. Other than that we really enjoyed it.”

“The staff were very helpful and attentive which made it a pleasant stay. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the breakfast was good so no issues with the food. It was my birthday so i had my main and dessert for free too as they have a birthday offer. The hotel itself has character and charm, we upgraded to a superior double on the top floor, there are no lifts but we were made aware of that when booking. The room itself was clean and had some nice touches, including a welcome note from……

“This was our first visit to the hotel since it was refurbished. I’d saved up to take my husband there for his birthday treat. When we got there, we were so impressed and our room was lovely, apart from it feeling very warm. We realised that we were directly above the kitchen. It was really noisy, as the extractor fan was so noisy to the point that it felt like we were about to take off on an aeroplane ( and that is no exaggeration ) We were kept awake by the staff laughing outside and throwing……
