“We were able to get in the room with good written instructions. It was me, my husband, and 2 grandchildren, ages 10 and 12. No instructions on locking the door when leaving. Had to spend a lot of time locking up to leave for an outing. When we opened the door the stench of cigarettes gave me a headache and was nauseating. “We stayed for two nights. Apart from being made to wait until the very last minute to check in -- absolutely loved it. The property is just beautiful; lovely and well-kept grounds right up against the red rocks. We saw turkeys and mule deer in the grounds. The castle was beautiful with many original features but nicely updated. The breakfast was decent and the staff were friendly and efficient. Loved our visit. Also, it's very close to Old Colorado City -- we went down there both evenings.”
